We painted Indian/First Nation/Native American ( how's that for PC???) masks. :)
We did a Thankful Turkey ( which is actually a legit tradition now, as this was our 4th year in a row! YAY!) The kids named him "Butterball" and we each had 3 feathers to write what we were grateful for...Luke's are red, Macy's are green, Rich's are orange, and mine are yellow. :)
This year it took FOREVER to figure out what we were going to do for Thanksgiving. With exception of the year Macy was born, we've gone to Vegas for Thanksgiving every single year. Much to our dismay flights were CA-RAZY expensive this year so we just couldn't figure out a way to pull it off. We ho'd and hum'd and tossed a bunch of ideas back and forth until we finally decided to break with tradition and make the trip west to Boise were my mom and K-Fed just moved to spend the holiday with Gobby and Pops and 3 of my 5 siblings.
I was really nervous to be pregnant and grouchy ( really, for me, they go hand in hand) and stuck in the car with my record breakingly (so-not-a-real-word) loud kids, for 12 HOURS, but it ended up not being too bad of a drive and was overall pretty uneventful. Oh, unless you count the part where our 2 year old, Luke decided to play "Olympic diving" and dove straight into the deep water of the Idaho Falls hotel pool, without warning. I was lucky enough to not witness the event, as I was in the room ironing clothes for the next day. However I did receive a very calm phone call from my red headed husband on the hotel phone where he said...and I quote..." Um, so Luke just almost died, can you come down here?" Every mother's dream call, I'm sure of it.
Back to the trip...
My mom and K-Fed's new house is a super duper fun family house. They have a back yard the size of Texas, so naturally, we turned it into a 4 wheeler/Rhino track.
We got to hang out with Auntie Kelsie ( pictured here below, with matching Meridian, Idaho shirts) It was our last time seeing Kelsie before she leaves for her mission to Birmingham, Alabama ( Spanish speaking!) on May 1st. WE LOVE KELSIE!
Gobby (my mom) and Pops had tons of fun toys at their new house....One being this ginormous basketball hoop, that Luke and Pops could not get enough of!!
They have a fun toy kitchen that Macy LOVED and this crazy trippy, fog-filled-bubble machine that the kids played with for HOURS. Oh, and who could forget the pop guns, from...who else? Pops :) I'm glad no one lost an eye. :)
Rich and I do a puzzle every Thanksgiving, (his family tradition that we are carrying on) and this was the official Thanksgiving 2013 puzzle.
It was really fun for all of us lonely Montanans to see my family, and THE BEST part was seeing this little turkey sporting stinker...Baby Jake!
Baby Jake is Kacie and Dylan's baby and we just can't get enough of those cheeks and eyes and just everything about him. He's so squishable!
My mom deserves a special award because this woman went all out and made a SUPER yummy dinner. My only job was the potatoes, and I FORGOT THE SALT...Who DOES that???? Shoot me now.
We like to take advantage of being in "BIG CITIES" when we can, so while we were in town for the holiday, we made sure to do plenty of shopping, dining out and even got to go see Skyfall!
Thanks Gobby and Pops for such a fun holiday!!!! We are so grateful to have such supportive and kind family!!!
